Looking at Mindfulness Techniques for Children

Mindfulness is not just effective for adults

These days mindfulness is everywhere and rightly so. We know mindfulness is good for us, the research keeps on showing us why, and so does experience. Mindfulness allows us to be present in our parenting, choosing a skillful response, instead of succumbing to our visceral reactions. Mindfulness is also good for our kids. Research indicates mindfulness can help children improve their abilities to pay attention, to calm down when they are upset and to make better decisions. It helps with emotional regulation and cognitive focus.

The purpose of teaching mindfulness to our children is to give them skills to develop their awareness of their inner and outer experiences, to recognise their thoughts as "just thoughts," to understand how emotions manifest in their bodies, to recognise when their attention has wandered, and to provide tools for impulse control.

The webinar will be available for all NAME employees to watch from DATE and will remain available for 30 days.

In addition to the webinar, we have created a useful handout which you can print out and refer back to. In this handout, we cover some of the key points in our presentation.
