First Aid
We can provide First Aid Programmes in different formats:
- 3 hour workshop, with participant interaction which demonstrates practical techniques. This has a maximum attendance of 12 people.
- A 3 Day Occupational First Aid Programme. This has a maximum attendance of 10 people.
- Half Day CPR/AED Training
- 1 hour seminar with no limit on attendance.
We also offer a choice of E Learning programmes:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Paediatric Basic Life Support (PBLS)
Any specific requests on further topics or more in detail training can be discussed on a case by case basis.
Our First Aid Training Courses are designed to provide attendees with practical first aid skills applicable in the given situation. First Aid Programmes will be beneficial to all in their day-to-day life
On-Site Programmes
Basic First Aid
Programme Structure
This is a 3 hour, hands on workshop. Over the course of the programme, and dependent on your chosen format, a selection of the following topics will be covered:
- What is first aid?
- How to call emergency services.
- Maintaining safe systems of work.
- Brief introduction to circulation wounds and bleeding
- Management of nose bleeds etc.
- Application of dressings to wounds.
- Management of heart attack.
- Introduction to CPR.
- Management of choking casualty - Heimlich manoeuvre.
- Management of unconscious casualty – recovery position.
- Management of burns and application of burns dressings

Paediatric First Aid
Programme Structure
This is a 3 hour, hands on workshop. Over the course of the programme, and dependent on your chosen format, a selection of the following topics will be covered:
- Primary Survey (ABC) Child & Infant
- Secondary Survey
- Breathing Rates
- Nose Bleed
- Concussion/Compression
- Epilepsy
- Burns & Scalds
- Pulse Taking
- Choking Child/Infant

CPR/AED Course
Programme Structure
This is a 4 hour, hands on workshop. The CPR/AED Course teaches the basic techniques of:
- Chain of Survival
- 4 common life-threatening emergencies in adults:
- Cardiac Arrest
- Choking
- Stroke
- Heart Attack
- Activation of the emergency services
- CPR to an adult and child and infant
- Use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Perform one and two-rescuer CPR
- CPR on Adult, Child or Infant using a barrier device
- Help a choking victim.
- Relieve choking in the responsive and unresponsive victim of any age
An AED is a computerised defibrillator which analyses the heart rhythm of a person in cardiac arrest and uses voice prompts to advise if a shock is needed. The AED is an important link in the chain of survival and this course teaches how to use them effectively. Upon completion – participants will be awarded a Dual Certification by IHF (Irish Heart Foundation) & PHECC (Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council).

3-Day Occupational First Aid (QQI Level 5)
Programme Structure:
This is a hands on, 3 day course, incorporating a written examination upon completion of the workshop.

- Wounds & bleeding
- Altered levels of consciousness
- Musculoskeletal injuries
- Burns and scalds, chemical & electric shock
At course completion, learners will
- Understand responsibilities of the occupational first aider
- Be familiar with health & safety legislation in relation to first aid in the workplace
- Be able to provide treatment for the purpose of preserving life or minimising the consequences of injury until discharge or the arrival of medical assistance
- Be able to provide treatment for an injury which doesn't require the attention of medical practitioner or nurse
- Be capable of coordinating first aid arrangements in the workplace.
Participants will complete a theoretical exam and practical skills assessment in the presence of the external examiner.

E-Learning Programmes
Basic Life Support
Programme Structure
This course is for everyone who wants to learn Basic Life Support. You will learn how to recognize a cardiac arrest and how to respond. You will learn when and how to perform CPR and how to use the AED.
This course provides the essential treatment algorithms and instruction videos for Basic Life Support. This course is based on the 2015 guidelines of the European Resuscitation Council (ERC).

Paediatric Basic Life Support
Programme Structure
In this course you will learn the Paediatric Basic Life Support procedures and techniques at children over 1 year of age and infants till the age of 1 year. You will learn when and how to perform CPR, when and how to use the AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and what to do in case of choking.
